Default Rarest of the Rare

Is there an ulitimate super rare item that maybe has only dropped a few times in Guild Wars history? In the game I used to play, there were a few such rare items that you could track through different players back a couple of years. Getting one as a drop was practicaly a life chaning event, LOL. So I'm just curious if Guild Wars has anything like that.

well, not the skin. But weapons in tyria can have much more different mods, like shields with +1 death magic and -2 dmg while enchanted + -2 while in stance

Those mods are rare, and some of them may have dropped only once (let's say a r9 skull shield with both +1 death magic 20% and +1 curses 20%)

The +xx unconditonal items are definetly the "rarest of the rare" they dont drop anymore, and even non max ones sell for a huge ammount of gold.

crystalline and elemental swords aren't the one of kind thing the OP's looking for. probably the only thing that qualifies for that are the +xx% dmg unconditionals (especially the Serpent Axe that has that).

There's other items in the game that are in very limited quantities but they were rewards or gifts from Anet such as the Mini Kanaxai of which there are only 26 in the game or the Mini Vizu which there are only 29. The Everlasting Beetle Tonic was also a reward to the Celestial Tournament winners as well as those who guessed results correctly and which there are only 31 in the game.

Diddy Bow is right about the unconditionals.

Way back at the start some items from unlocked chests (Arid sea?) dropped as Vampiric or Zealous with -1 health degen or energy degen as the damage mod. The -1 mods didn't stack with the prefix mod and replacing the suffix meant that the weapon would just have unconditional/no-negative damage. [Disclaimer: This is what I'm lead to believe but it may not be accurate]

There are some req.7 15%^50% weapons and perfect req.7 shields which are very rare and people are happy to pay lot for them.

Before HoH items were made inscribable I remember seeing one guy selling a req.8 15^50 Crystalline Sword in the high-end forum here. People began offering real money for it too much to the disdain of the forum moderators. I think it sold for 7 stacks of ecto.

Tried looking it up on Wiki without much luck, so can someone explain unconditional items to me please? What makes it so special? For example, I have bow grips that are +30 health that I guess are unconditional. Little confused here.

the damage mod would be like 15% while health is above 50%, the condition is that your health is over 50%. An unconditional weapon might have damage +15% with no condition for this extra damage.

Yes, unconditonal weapons are incrediably rare. A large number of them are owned by Herbalizer (around 10), a forum regular who is pretty much the richest player I know.

The other item that is like this would be the exclusive minipets. There are only 8 Kanaxi mini pets in the world for instance.

You've probably noticed that gold martial weapons have conditional mods ('Inscriptions' in Nightfall) like:

-Damage +15% (While Health is above 50%)
-Damage +15% (Versus Hexed foes)
-Damage +20% (While Hexed)
-Damage +20% (While Health is below 50%)

or mods with a negative such as:

Damage +15% (Energy -5)
Damage +15% (Armour -10 While Attacking)
Damage +15% (Energy Regeneration -1)
Damage +15% (Health Regeneration -1)

An Unconditional weapon is simply:

Damage +15%

There are also, 12%, 13%, and 14% undconditionals which do fetch a large sum of money yet +15% is the real jackpot.

@OP Im not sure what game you used to play, but with the info you gave us it sounds like a much smaller game. in a community as big as guild wars even rare items are given out by the hundreds.

Yes, it is very small. I don't know how many in total play, but everyone knew eachother and were for the most part pretty good friends. Made for fun on Ventrilo. Not sure if I'm allowed to say the name on boards.

Is there a list of rare/expensive things somewhere that we can have a look at for quick reference?

I won't be surprised if I've sold things to a merchant that I didn't know were actually worth a lot to other players.

best place to learn about rare items and items of high value is to browse through the high end forum and the price check forums....here on GWguru ;P

Thanks Coridan.

It'll be great if someone with enough knowledge about this will make such a list though. There's such great help for almost everything except this.

I have to admit though that I've been a bit lazy in looking.
